Developing the Inclusion Action Plan at the University of Bayreuth

Inclusion and Accessibility, 02.02.2022

With a new energy, the Diversity Service Centre launched the development of the Action Plan “Inclusive University of Bayreuth” in the new year.

As one of the measures of the University of Bayreuth's Structure & Development Plan 2025, the Action Plan pursues the full implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). In this context, inclusion aims for the full participation of, and equal opportunities for, people with disabilities and chronic illnesses in all situations of life.

Alongside various priority areas, the status quo and any specific needs at the University of Bayreuth and its sites will be examined in order to develop objectives and the required measures. This will serve as a framework for the development of an inclusive university.

The University of Bayreuth is aware of its responsibility and has the intention to implement inclusion as a university-wide commitment. The removal of barriers and the appreciation of diversity and different realities of living are academic, educational and social gains from which everyone can benefit.

The development and implementation of the Action Plan is meant to be interpreted as a process that enables a critical examination of both one's own work and the established structures and culture. Therefore, it requires exchange about needs and required action. Ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
